Frequently Asked Questions

Wellies And How They FIt

Other manufacturers work with a standard mould for their welly manufacture and just cut the rubber at the top to allow more space there.

We realise that wide calf wellies need to be wide throughout the foot, ankle
and leg and so have created our own unique mould which is genuinely wide fit.
This allows you to slip them on and off easily and still provides space for thick socks for most people.

All of our boots are designed in the UK but there are no rubber boot factories in the UK that can make our styles.

Rubber plants are almost entirely grown in Asia which provides the highest quality source material for the boots.

Therefore, our wellies are made in Asia in a factory we have been working with for many years now.

We provide a simple guide to measuring your feet and leg correctly.

Then you can see which of our wellies will work for your measurements. Take a look at our 1 minute welly finder here

Our boots come up large. We always recommend taking your normal shoe size even if you would normally go a size up when buying boots, and want to fit thick socks. If you are between sizes (e.g. 6.5), then we would recommend sizing down to a 6 for example.

This recommendation is from 20 years of experience of selling our boots. We really do want you to get the right boot first time.

We manufacture our boots from 100% high quality durable rubber, which is vegan. They are built to last and we guarantee them for 1 year, which is longer than most other manufacturers offer, as we believe in the quality we offer.

We have been making wide calf wellies now for over 20 years. During this
time, every time we have developed new models, it has been based on the
feedback of our customers.

There are millions of people who are not looked after by the larger manufacturers, and we want to help. Most manufacturers make wide calf wellies in the same mould as their normal boots but just expand the boots at the top.
This does not take into account the fact that most curvy people also need more
space in the foot and ankle.

We are an online business, so do not sell into retailers in the UK. This allows us to provide you with the boots at cheaper prices by not having to pay the retailer.

We realise that it can be tricky to buy footwear confidently online but have created a detailed size guide to help you choose the right boots first time.
Take a look here at our sizing page and if you still have any concerns or need help,

you can call us on +44 1488 647253 or
email us at help@jileon.com

We have had a lot of customers over the years who have found our traditional boots too baggy in the ankles.

Therefore we have designed a new welly that should work for you perfectly.
Take a look at this collection. They are still wide in the calf but more fitted in the ankle to make walks more comfortable for you.

Unfortunately we have explored this, but the cost of the last (mould) in these sizes was quite high compared to our predicted sales, so we could not afford to do this.

Shipping

For any order over £60, we do offer free next business day shipping to our customers.

For orders under £60, there is a £3.99 charge.

Being cheap doesn’t mean it should take a long time. But, delivery times do vary and depend on both the value of the boot that you’re buying and your location

- All orders over £60 to mainland UK - free next working day delivery* service if you place your order by 12:00 p.m.

- All orders over £60 to Isle of Wight, Northern Ireland plus Highlands and Islands are sent out free of charge on Royal Mail Tracked 48 service

- All orders under £60 are sent via Royal Mail Tracked and take 2-4 working days

* Although we do aim for next day delivery, this is not guaranteed particularly in the event of flooding, other extreme weather conditions and road closures.

Assuming you’ve given us a correct mobile or e-mail address, DPD Local will contact you with a one hour delivery window.  If this doesn’t suit you, you have the option to ask for the delivery to be left with a neighbour, in a safe place or to arrange a more suitable time. Their service means that there’s no more waiting around for a delivery between 8am and 6pm.

If you miss the courier, a calling card will be left saying that no one was home. There’s a phone number for you to ring and arrange a more convenient time. The below video is a great summary of how the service works.

We do recommend downloading the DPD Local app to your phone, as this makes communication on your delivery far simpler.

Any Royal Mail orders will be delivered with your usual postal deliveries, but do not have any guaranteed delivery times. However you can still track the orders via the details we send via email

While 98% of the deliveries are received next business day, this can't be guaranteed particularly during winter months and our unpredictable weather. We are not liable for delays, so please do try and order your boots in plenty of time if you have a deadline.

Of course!  However, there is an additional charge of £5.99 for this service.

Please allow up to 7 working days for items shipped using Royal Mail.  After this time, please contact your local sorting office as they may have tried to deliver whilst you were out and not left a card (it does happen). If they don’t have your parcel, please contact us directly and we’ll see what we can do.

For items shipped via DPD Local, allow 2 working days before making contact.  You can either contact DPD Local directly or us to trace missing parcels.

Just because we’re on-line doesn’t mean you can’t come and visit us. We know how tricky it is to get the right size boot, so we’re happy if you want to try our boots before you buy them or if you want to “click and collect”.

Our postcode is RG17 7LX but, please call us before you visit.  Our opening times are 10:00 – 14:00 Monday to Friday only.

Yes you can for shipments sent through DPD. Please download their app and then when they email or text you about the delivery, you can choose to have it delivered to a local shop for you to pick up at your convenience.

This is the most environmentally friendly delivery service as hopefully you can pick them up at the same time as doing other chores in the area.

If you do change your mind after the boots have shipped, we can no longer cancel the order. If you reject the delivery, we do have to charge for the delivery cost plus a 20% restocking fee.

ROI, France, Germany & Netherlands from £19.99

Italy, Austria & Spain from £24.99

RoW from £39.99 (for US residents, you can now save shipping costs, as our extra wide fit wellies are available on www.jileonrainboots.com with stock in the US)

Unfortunately post Brexit, it is really hard to ship to other EU countries apart from the above 7, due to problems with VAT and duties for our couriers. We are really sorry about this.

We do deduct VAT at source for you, so when you are charged in your own country, you have only paid once

Unfortunately due to Brexit, you will now be charged some local duties and taxes in your country based on local rates on top of the product cost. You will be contacted directly by your local customs authority to pay this before they will be delivered.

We understand this is not ideal but we are a UK based company and this is now mandatory. We believe the fees are your VAT rate plus a £5 admin fee currently. We have deducted any UK VAT from your order already so you are not paying twice.

Please be aware that if you do refuse to pay the customs fees, the boots will be sent back to us, and as we are still charged for the shipping costs plus the return costs, we will have to deduct £20 from any refund to cover this.

If they don't work for you, our returns process is quick and easy. All the details can be found on the back of the invoice in your delivery. Take a look at our returns page here.

We are proud to work with DPD, who are committed to making every shipment carbon neutral. The packaging we use is made from 80% recycled materials and is 100% recyclable, and they also offer click and collect services to limit the environmental impact.

Our larger boots are sent in a reusable drawstring bag that you can keep and comes in very handy.

This cost includes all duties and taxes so you don't have to worry about them

Returns

We understand that buying boots on the internet can be difficult, as you
never know if they will fit. We are happy to exchange your boots for a
different size or provide a refund if you are not happy with them for any
reason.

All we ask is that they are returned in 'as new condition' within 60 days of
receipt.

All of the details for returning our boots are shown on the back of the
invoice you will have received in the package.

If you need to return an item, please complete the returns form that was
enclosed with the goods, and detail what you need, whether it be an exchange of
size or a refund. We will process any returned items within 48 hours of
them arriving back with us Monday - Friday.

For exchange of sizes and refunds, you will need to pay to return the boots,
but we will send the replacement pair out to you free of charge

Yes that is easy. Just fill in the form on the back of the invoice in the packaging.

For exchange of sizes and refunds, you will need to pay to return the boots, but we will send the replacement pair out to you free of charge.

You can choose any method to return the boots to us, but please be aware that costs and delivery times may vary.

The company currently offering the best service in our opinion is Yodel (formerly Collect Plus), which is significantly cheaper than Royal Mail for all adult wellies (£4.60 for standard boots), and can be sent from over 7000 local shops. This is merely a recommendation and we can take no responsbility for their service.

Return items to us using Yodel

Click on the above link , pay and print out the return label. Then just put the label on the package and drop it at your nearest local shop, which can be found by entering your postcode at step 5. Take a look at the below video which shows how the system works.

You can find all the details on the back of the invoice, but if you can't
find this, please send the boots back to:

Jileon Returns

Unit 4 Bockhampton Manor Farm Buildings

Newbury Road

Lambourn

We offer a 1 year warranty from purchase date on all of our boots for normal wear and tear damage. To save costs and time on both sides, if you do have a problem, please take some photos of the damage and send them to us at help@jileon.com together with your name, address and order number.

This will allow us to take a look at the damage quickly  and get some replacements sent out for you. Please don't send the boots back to us unless we request it. Our policy is to replace the boots within warranty rather than
refund you

We thought long and hard about this, but most companies that offer this absorb the costs in other areas – for example putting up the price of their products. We don’t want to do that, so decided to keep things as transparent as possible by letting you know from the offset that it’s our policy to charge for returns.

Of course. For Christmas gifts, you can return these up until January 15th for a full refund.
