Should I size up or down?

Should I size up or down?

July 29, 2026Jileon Wellies

We get a lot of questions if you should size up when ordering Jileon Wellies? The good news is that for most people, the answer is simple: stick to your usual shoe size. Based on our sizing advice and customer reviews, there's no need to size up. The Wellies are designed to have a roomy fit, and many customers say they fit comfortably in their usual size without needing thick socks. If you're between sizes, it's generally recommended to size down rather than up.

Jileon's Guidance:

  • Buy your normal shoe size.
  • If you're between sizes, size down because our boots are designed to come up slightly large. For example, if you're usually a UK 6.5, we would recommend ordering a UK 6.

Why You Don't Need to Size Up

Some people assume they need to buy a larger size so they can wear thick socks. However, Jileon Wellies are already designed with a little extra room, meaning most customers find their regular size is comfortable with normal everyday socks.

In fact, many customer reviews mention that the boots feel roomy enough without needing to size up.

Sizing up can sometimes leave too much space around your foot, causing your heel to lift when walking. A boot that's too large can also feel less supportive and may become uncomfortable on longer walks.

Remember: Width Matters Too

A common mistake is sizing up because a boot feels narrow. With Jileon, that's rarely necessary.

Our Wellies are available in a range of calf widths and foot widths, so instead of increasing your shoe size, you can choose a style that's designed to suit your shape.

Whether you have wide calves, extra wide calves, or simply need a little more room around your feet, there's a Jileon boot made to fit comfortably.

Still Not Sure?

Everyone's feet are different, so if you're unsure, we've made choosing the right size even easier.

Don't forget to try our Size Guide Quiz. It helps you find the best fitting Jileon rain boots based on your foot size, calf measurements, and preferred fit, giving you extra confidence before you order.
