What does a Welly Warranty Cover?

June 17, 2026Molly Ginns

When you invest in a pair of wellies, you expect them to keep your feet dry and comfortable for many adventures to come. At Jileon, we design our boots to provide a comfortable fit for people with wider calves and feet, using quality materials and specialist manufacturing techniques.

Like all footwear, however, wellies experience wear and tear over time. Understanding what is covered by our warranty can help ensure you get the best from your boots and know what to do if a manufacturing issue occurs.

Every pair of Jileon wellies are designed to meet high quality standards before leaving the factory. We carefully inspect our products and work closely with our manufacturing partners to ensure that each boot is waterproof, comfortable and fit for purpose. They also undergo stress and flex testing externally.

Despite these checks, manufacturing defects can occasionally occur. Our warranty is designed to protect customers in these rare situations. We offer a warranty period of 1 year (12 months) from the original date of purchase.

Why Are Warranties Only One Year?

Many consumers are surprised that premium boots costing £100 to £200 or more often also come with only a one-year warranty. Manufacturers generally argue that footwear is subject to a wide range of environmental conditions, usage patterns, and maintenance practices, making longer guarantees difficult to offer without increasing prices.

A warranty period is not necessarily an indication of a product's expected lifespan. Many wellies continue to perform well for several years when properly cared for. Instead, the warranty is intended to cover faults that indicate a manufacturing issue rather than natural deterioration over time.

Key facts:

  • Wellies are made from rubber, which naturally degrades over time due to flexing, UV exposure, temperature changes, mud, chemicals, and storage conditions.
  • Manufacturers often find it difficult to distinguish between a manufacturing defect and damage caused by use, fit, or environmental factors after a long period.
  • A longer warranty would increase replacement costs and likely push up retail prices.
  • Jileon boots are made from durable natural rubber and that the 1-year guarantee reflects its confidence in the product while remaining commercially practical.
